KABUL (Pajhwok): The caretaker government of Afghanistan on Thursday said it had no information about the arrival and stay of the slain Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul and intelligence agencies would investigate it.
In a statement, the Taliban government said the US had violated Afghanistan’s territory and a repeat of such action would have consequences and the US would be responsible for that.
On Tuesday night, US President Joe Biden said that Ayman Al-Zawahiri was killed in a US drone strike in the Sherpur area of Kabul.
“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had no information about Ayman al-Zawahiri’s arrival and stay in Kabul,” the IEA statement said.
It said the leadership of the Islamic Emirate had instructed investigative and intelligence agencies to conduct a comprehensive and serious investigation into the various aspects of the incident.
The statement said that there was no threat to any country, including America, from the soil of Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate wants to implement the Doha pact and the violation of the pact must end.
“The fact that America invaded our territory and violated all international principles, we strongly condemn the action once again.”
The statement warned if such action was repeated, the US would be responsible for any consequences.
