He has been associated with the traditional profession since decades.
Buzkashi horses’ saddle making is a traditional and profitable profession in northeastern Takhar province.
Mohammad Nazar, originally from DashtiQala district, has kept this traditional profession alive and earns a livelihood this way.
He inherited the saddle making profession from his ancestors and has been associated with it since 33 years. He told Pajhwok he eked out a living from saddle making.
He said if the government supported him, he could produce saddles in shorter time.
Many national and international Buzkashi players (from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan) are interested in buying his hand-made saddles, Nazar Mohammad said.
His customers praise his work.
Ahmad Khalid, one of Nazar Mohammad’s customers, said saddle was an important tool in Buzkashi contest and he believed the quality of Mohammad’s saddles was very good.
Khalid emphasized that the traditional handicraft must not extinct and asked for the government and other relevant institutions to support the ancient industry.
