Work on construction of canals launched in Khost City

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Work on construction of canals was launched on Tuesday in this capital city of southeastern Khost province at a cost of 30 million afghanis.

Local officials say the 2,300-meter-long canals are being fundamentally constructed  in the second district of the city.

Khost mayor Qari Bismillah Bilal, who inaugurated the project, told Pajhwok the project would take six months to complete and consume 30 million afghanis provided from the municipality’s development budget.

The mayor also said some other development projects would be launched in other parts of the city in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Khost governor Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Omari asked the mayor and engineers of the project to ensure transparency and good quality in implementation of the project.

He asked the municipality to launch similar useful projects for rehabilitation of the city and resolving existing problems in the city.

Khan Mohammad, a resident of Khost city, told Pajhwok the river should be widened and quality work should be ensured.” During rains, the nullahs are blocked and the water comes on the road”.

A number of other residents expressed similar views and asked the construction company to carry out the work in a quality manner.
