KABUL (Pajhwok): Figures from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) show positive Covid-19 cases decreased by 16 percent in September compared to the previous month.

Dr. Sharafat Zaman, an official of MoPH, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the ministry registered 14,300 positive Covid-19 cases across the country during the last three months, with the highest number of cases emerging in August.

MoPH  statistics show 3,300 positive Covid-19 cases were registered in July with 28 fatalities, in August 6,000 positive cases emerged when 27 people died from the infection and in September 5,000 positive cases surfaced with 22 fatalities.

Zaman said a total of 100,970 suspected Covid-19 cases were examined in labs of the country while 14,300 of them were diagnosed positive.

He warned if people neglected health guidelines, the number of positive cases would increase again in the country.

Using a mask, not participating in gatherings in closed places, observing social distance and washing hands with clean water and soap are World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 spread.
