KABUL (Pajhwok): Former president Hamid Karzai has separately met Mohammad Muhaqqiq and Karim Khalili in Turkey and discussed with them the country’s current situation, calling intra-Afghan negotiations the only solution.
Mohammad Karim Khalili on his Facebook page wrote that he met Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan.
He said he met Karzai during his trip to Turkey and both sides exchanged views on important political issues and stressed the only solution to the country’s political crisis was intra-Afghan negotiations.
Both sides expressed the hope that the will of Afghans through intra-Afghan dialogue would lead to a permanent solution, settlement and social justice in the country, Khalili said.
Mohammad Muhaqqiq, the leader of Islamic Unity party (Hizb-i-Wahdat) on his twitter handle wrote the current situation of the country was discussed between him and Karzai in Istanbul city.
Karzai is yet comment about the meetings.
After the regime change on August 15, 2021, some political figures, including Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, left the country, but Hamid Karzai stayed in the country.
However, some reports said Karzai was not allowed to travel abroad, but he was allowed to travel to the United Arab Emirates on December 6 and from there he travelled to Germany and Turkey.
Karzai’s trip to the UAE coincided with Defense Minister Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob’s visit to the UAE where he met Thomas West, the US special envoy to Afghanistan.
