Jalalabad municipality to complete projects worth 290m afs

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The municipality in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, has completed eight projects out of 14 projects launched this year with a total cost of 290 million afghanis.

Technical and sectoral affairs head at Jalalabad municipality Engineer Obaidullah Sherzad told a press conference here that the municipality had launched 14 projects worth 290 million afghanis in different areas from its 1401 development budget and eight of the projects had been completed and work on the rest was in progress.

Sherzad also said they had been set 558 million afghanis revenue target for 1401 solar year and they had so far collected 378 million afghanis three months before the end of the year.

He said it was expected the revenue collection would surpass the target until the end of the year. “The municipality has achieved progress in diverse fields, especially in the construction sector. The construction of roads, canals and culverts is worth mentioning.”

The official said the municipality collected 146000 cubic meters of garbage from different areas of Jalalabad and transported it out from the city.

He asked people to timely pay cleanliness and other taxes in order to help increase the municipality’s revenue.

Sherzad said they had launched work on the new city project for urban development in order to ease congestion in Jalalabad due to the increase in population.

He added the new city would be built on 19,000 acres of land, where all facilities of a city would be considered.

Sherzad also said they had launched efforts to reclaim usurped land of the municipality.
