Russia rules out closure of embassy in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Russian Federation has ruled out the closure of its embassy in Kabul, saying it has no such plans.

Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov, speaking to TASS news agency on Monday, said the embassy would remain open.

The diplomat’s explanation came after the Al-Arabiya TV channel reported that several Arab and Western countries would shut close their diplomatic missions in Kabul.

Asked whether Russia also had similar plans, Kabulov replied: “Such thoughts have not even occurred.”
