KABUL (Pajhwok): The passport distribution process across the country will resume next week, an official of the department has announced.

Abdul Karim Haseeb, director of the General Directorate of Passport, told a press conference the distribution would restart on Wednesday.

Applicants who have already applied online for passports could transfer applications to their respective native provinces after entering the systems.

Residents of provinces could not apply for passports in Kabul. They are required to shift their documents to the relevant provinces.

He said provincial passport related matters will not be executed in the Central Passport Office, adding that people from other province living in Kabul will be able to get their passports in Kabul.

He stressed every Afghan will be provided with passport without any discrimination.

Haseeb stressed problems that existed in passport office had been resolved and a adequate number of passports were available.

Sher Shah Quraishi, spokesperson for the Central Passport Office, said 10,000 passports would be distributed nationwide daily.

He assured in the future there would be no delay in the passport distribution and each passport would be charged 10,000 afs.

In October, the Ministry of Interior suspended the distribution of passports for an indefinite period of time due to technical problems.

Earlier, people had called several times for the resumption of the passport distribution drive.
