UNICEF provides stationary items to Logar education dept

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Education Department in central Logar province has received education related materials worth $350,000 from the UNICEF, an official said on Tuesday.

Education Department Spokesperson Shapur Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the aid was provided for 2,400 primary and intermediate schools teachers and 75,600 students which will be distributed to them in coming solar year.

The aid items included school bags, notebooks, pen, markers, pencils, dusters and other stationary items needed for students and teachers for their studies, he said.

He added the aid will help resolve the stationary related need of students and teachers in Logar for one year.

Abdullah, one of the teachers in Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok Afghan News the stationary items provided by the UNICEF will help teachers and students in quality learning and teaching.

Arab asked relevant officials to ensure transparency in the distribution of stationary items to all schools.

Ahmad Javid, one of the students of Umar-i-Farooq High School, said many teachers and students in Logar could not afford to purchase stationary items from bazaar due to weak financial condition.

The aid comes at time when recently the Education Ministry provided 500,000 textbooks to the Education Department of Logar.
