KUNDUZ CITY (Pawjhok): Some residents of Dashti Archi district of northern Kunduz province have asked the government to resume asphalt work on the Kunduz City-Dashti Archi road to address commuters’ problems.

However, Rural Rehabilitation and Development Directorate officials say it has been planned to complete incomplete development projects in the province.

The road connecting Dashti Archi district with Kunduz City, the provincial capital, is half asphalted as its work was left incomplete because of the wars and incidents of insecurity.

Abdullah, a driver on DashtiArchi – Kundiz road, said commuters, such as traders, ordinary people and patients, faced problems because of the unpaved road.

He said: “A patient cannot reach hospital on time and commercial goods of traders are also delayed from reaching market. Now as the security is good, the remaining of ork of this project must be completed”.

Mohammad Ullah, another resident of DashtiArchi, said: “We face various problems, a major part of the road has been asphalted, but some part of this road remains unpaved, we want the government to complete this project”.

Some other residents called the incomplete road a great challenge to commute on.

AtiqullahJalili, the director of Engineering Section at the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, said the government planned to resume work on incomplete projects in the province.

He said: “Work on incomplete projects in Kunduz  will  resume, especially on the DashtiArchi–Kunduz road project”.

DashtiArchi, a remote district of Kunduz province, had been the scene past wars and thus no attention was paid to its development.
