Man killed by unidentified gunmen in Uruzgan

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Unknown gunmen shot dead a resident of Khas Uruzgan district of central Uruzgan province in front of his house apparently over a land dispute, an official and residents said on Saturday.

Governor’s house spokesman Ihsanullah Hamas identified the slain person to Pajhwok Afghan News as Najibullah Irfani, a resident of Sarsango area.

He said the slain person had legal claim of ownership of a land.

The murder took place Friday night around 9pm and security forces have arrested some suspects who are currently being interrogated, Hamas said.

Najibullah’s neighbors said he was shot dead near his home.

Ahmad Shah, a resident of Sarsango village, told Pajhwok that Najibullah Irfani was their villager and he had a legal case over land ownership.

He added: “Recently the district court decided to hand over the land to him, but he was killed last night near his home.”
