FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Two drinking water supply projects have been completed and put into service in Dawlat Yar and Chaharsada districts of western Ghor province, an official said on Thursday.
Zabihullah Ghosizada, an official of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the water supply projects were completed in villages of the mentioned districts and put into service today.
He said: “The first water supply network consumed 13.2 million afghanis and was executed in Sharshar village of Dawlat Yar district and the second costing 1.5 million afghanis was put into service in Dara Minar area of Chaharsada district.”
He said the projects were implemented with financial support of the United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in coordination with the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department (RRDD).
About 1,000 families found access to potable drinking water with these networks, he added.
At least 14,120 people worked on the two projects.
Residents of the two districts welcomed the completion of the water supply schemes.
Mohammad Gul, a resident of Dawlat Yar district, said: “We would travel long distances to fetch water home, but now much better water comes to our homes and our problem has been addressed.”
Abdul Rauf, a resident of Chahrsada district, expressed his happiness with the completion of the project and: “Bringing water from long distances was a huge problem for us.”
The residents vowed to preserve and take care of the water supply networks.
