KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 104 people have suffered casualties in last week’s flash floods in 11 provinces of the country, the State Ministry for Disaster Management says.
Shafiullah Rahmimi, head of the ministry’s media office, said: “At least 47 people have died and 57 more have been wounded due to recent flooding in Maidan Wardak, Kabul, Kunar, Pakita, Khost, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, and Helmand.”
In a video clip, he said: “456 livestock were also killed, 940 houses destroyed and more than 500 acres of farmland and orchards washed away.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate has distributed 100,000 afghanis to the families of each martyr and 50,000 afs to each injured individual.
