KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s spokesman says the media law has been finalised and presented to the government leadership for endorsement.
At a meeting in southern Kandahar province, Mujahid assured journalists that coordination between the media and government institutions would be enhanced.
Sediqullah Afghan, director of the Tabasum Radio station, complained access to information was still a problem in Kandahar, where most of departmental spokesmen avoided sharing information with media representatives.
Bakht Mohammad Rehan, head of the Killid Radio in Kandahar, said it was the first time that Mujahid had held a meeting with journalists here. He hoped journalists’ problems would be addressed.
“We have shared the problems of lack of access to information once again as Mujahid Sahib was with us face to face. We hope the issue will be resolved,” he added.
Mujahid also acknowledged there were some problems in government institutions. Departmental spokesmen and officials were not yet familiar with the media, he argued.
Mujahid promised he would strive to increase coordination between journalists and government agencies.
According to him, the information and culture department was preparing special cards for journalists so that they did not face any problems in filing news reports.
