KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) says more than 88,000 Afghans have returned to the country, with 34,000 deported by Iran and Pakistan.

Abdul Latif Haqqani, spokesman for MoRR, told Pajhwok Afghan News 88,146 Afghan refugees returned to the country last month Pakistan and Iran.

About 86,874 came back from Iran and 1,272 from Pakistan, he said, adding 34,000 of the refugees were expelled forcibly and the remaining 54,146 returned voluntarily.

Haqqani said the returnees arrived in the country the Islam Qala Port in Herat and the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar.

Zahid Amarkhel, an expert of international affairs, told Pajhwok the Afghans wanted to migrate due to economic problems, unemployment and search for a comfortable life.

According to him, it is the responsibility of the government to create jobs for the people and solve their problems to stop them leaving their homeland.

Amarkhel said based on international migration laws, everyone reserves the right to migrate. Iran or any other country has no right to treat refugees differently.

He added Iran should remain committed to the rights of immigrants and should neither mistreat nor deport Afghan refugees.

The Islamic Emirate should also talk to the government of Iran about the problems of Afghan refugees and ensuring facilities for them in that country.
