Students will no longer be used for political purposes: Nadeem

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Acting Higher Education Minister Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem has said facilities for all kinds of education have been provided in the country and people should take advantage of them.

Nadeem, who arrived in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province with a delegation this morning, said their aim was to create an atmosphere of brotherhood between teachers and students of religious and modern educational institutes.

He said school and university and seminary and hujra had a hostile relationship during the past 40 years because the enemies of Islam and Afghanistan had taken over guardianship and care of the school and university.

“Schools and universities are not established to make military, intelligence people and nation killers from their students.”

Nadeem said after the Islamic Emirate’s return, some attention had been paid to the development of modern and religious education.

“Now teachers and students of school and seminary study under one roof like brothers for the development of the country.”

The minister said religious and modern education students would no longer be used politically, but every scientific organ would fulfill its responsibility according to the needs of the nation.

Nadeem said the Ministry of Higher Education had started efforts to ensure those seeking professional education should also have religious education.

He said religious scholars in provinces would teach university students from time to time various topics such as prayer, ethics and beliefs.
