KABUL (Pajhwok): As the conflict between Israel and Palestine rages, Russia has urged the UN Security Council to call for an immediate ceasefire.
In a resolution proposed by it, Russia sees the possibility to ensure a long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict only through peaceful means.
TASS news agency, which has seen the resolution, reported Russia had suggested the immediate release of hostages.
The document, denouncing violence against civilians and all acts of terrorism, stresses unhindered distribution of humanitarian assistance, including food, fuel and medical treatment.
In the wake of spectacular Hamas attacks on October 7, Israel has imposed a total blockade on Gaza and launched strikes on the Palestinian enclave.
In the ongoing hostilities, over 1,900 Palestinians have been killed and 7,700 others wounds. In Israel, about 1,500 people have been killed and nearly 4,000 injured so far.
