PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Six militants have been killed in an exchange of heavy gunfire with security in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, says Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The fire exchange took place during an intelligence-based operation in the Sambaza area of Zhob district, the ISPR said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the army’s media wing said security forces conducted the operation on the night of Oct 31on the basis of a report regarding the presence of militants in the area.
During the operation, intense gunfire was traded, resulting in the killing of six militants. A cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was also recovered, ISPR said.
“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of innocent civilians,” the statement added.
The security forces of Pakistan were determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, the ISPR said.
