GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A health centre and 23 houses for orphans have been built and put into use in Nawa district of southern Ghazni province.

Saad Charity Foundation has constructed the health center and the houses by spending 16 million afghanis.

Saad Charity Foundation head Maulvi Salim Akhundzada told Pajhwok Afghan News that the houses had been built for orphans who had no guardians and the health centre was built in Nawa district.

He said they also planned to build a township on 50 acres of land for Afghan refugees returning from Pakistan.

An orphan, Mohammad Momin, 14, said he had no home and had been living with relatives.

Momin said: “I was a minor when my father died, we had no house and now I am happy that I got a house.”

Nasirullah, a resident of Nawa district, expressed pleasure about what the charity did for the orphans.

He said: “It is a great service to the orphans, providing accommodation and shelters to the orphans who have no houses.”

Construction work on the houses and the health centre was started a year ago and the houses were handed over to the orphans yesterday.
