KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Examination Authority of Afghanistan (NEXA) has said Turkey is ready to help upgrade the university entrance test system of Afghanistan and a Turkish delegation has arrived in Kabul in this regard.

The Turkish delegates met with NEXA officials today (Monday) in Kabul.

NEXA’s deputy adviser for technical affairs Yama Aman said that an Afghan delegation traveled to Turkey some time ago and visited the Turkish examination system.

The delegation requested the Turkish examination authority to help NEXA in establishing an advanced system for Kankor examination.

Turkey wants to create a well-equipped system for NEXA through which all affairs of education, Kankor candidates and examinations will be managed from a central location.

The Turkish delegation is already in Kabul and it visited NEXA, met with officials of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and officials of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and visited some universities and schools.

“Turkey has 50 years of experience in electronic examinations while Afghanistan has just six years of experience, still the examination system of Afghanistan is a standard one”, Yama Aman explained.

Aman said NEXA previously worked with MoHE taking examinations from 12th grade students only, but after its separation from MoHE, NEXA has been conducting all examination because the previous system was not responding to the needs of the government.

Aman clarified the current system was established by an Indian company which had the capacity of taking only 25 types of examinations, but according to current requirements, this system needs to be changed into a Turkish system.

Turkish embassy charge de affairs in Kabul Cenk Ünal said that Ankara wants to further strengthen ties with Kabul in all fields.

He said Turkey has historical experiences in various sectors, according to which it can help Afghanistan.

NEXA head Sheikh Abdul Baqi Haqqani said Afghanistan and Turkey enjoyed various commonalities and relations.

He said more work was needed in various parts of Afghanistan to enable the country to compete with other countries.

Haqqani added NEXA must be capable like the examination authority of Turkey to provide all sorts of services.

On the other hand, Halil Shingun, deputy director of the Turkish examinations authority, said his country has 50 years of experience in taking exams.

He said they took exams every year from 15 million people in different departments.  He added that every year they innovated the examination system.
