KABUL (Pajhwok): UN Secretary-General António Guterres says a roadmap should be created to facilitate engagement between the international community and Afghanistan.

A United Nations Security Council assessment, reported by TOLOnews, says the current Afghan government is expected to combat threats to the regional and international stability.

The assessment also includes current global concerns about Afghanistan. Planning and financing of terrorist acts and the production, sale and trafficking of illegal narcotics are part of the assessment.

For its part, the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly promised that it will never allow Afghanistan’s soil being used against other countries.

“It has been two years since the start of the rule of the Islamic Emirate and no threat has been posed to other countries from Afghanistan’s soil,” says the IEA spokesman.

Zabiullah Mujahid asks: “Why is the world continuing to raise such concerns? Why should this issue be repeated all the time?”.

The assessment includes supporting bilateral and multilateral security cooperation, cooperating with global counter-narcotics efforts and strengthening international borders.

It calls for expanding international cooperation and assistance in areas that advance regional and global priorities, reviewing and updating relevant provisions of the UN and gradually resuming diplomatic engagement inside Afghanistan.

“By respecting the rights and freedoms of people, Afghanistan can integrate with the rest of the world and the international community, otherwise; prospects for a better future of Afghanistan will not exist,” said Sayed Jawad Sajadi, a political analyst.

On March 16, the UNSC asked to present an independent assessment of the situation in Afghanistan by November 17, 2023.

The UN chief and his team had prepared and presented the UNSC a 21-page assessment after seven months of meetings with officials of the Islamic Emirate and other stakeholders.
