KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan currency appreciated against the US dollar and the prices of diesel, liquefied gas and Indian sugar decreased during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.
Petrol prices up
A worker at Ahmadyar Group of Pump Stations said the price of one litre of petrol increased from 75afs to 76afs and diesel dropped from 65afs to 63afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity decreased from 58afs to 54afs.
Rates of food items
Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders Association, said the rate of a 24-kilogram sack of Pakistani rice decreased to 2,600afs from 2700afs and a 49-kilogram bag of Indian sugar decreased from 3,300afs to 3,200afs.
Safi said 49-kilogarm bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,700afs, a 16-litre tin of Malaysian cooking oil was sold for 1,350afs, a kilogram of African black tea accounted for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea 350afs.
Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, said the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour was 1,750afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar 3,250afs.
Also, a 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,400afs, one kilogram of black tea 450afs and the same quantity of green tea for 400afs.
Gold prices
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold declined from 3,850afs to 3,850afs and the same amount of Russian variety from 3,000afs to 2,900afs.
Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 69.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 240afs against their last week’s rates of 69.50afs and 235afs respectively.
