5 people killed in separate Bamyan, Faryab incidents

BAMYAN CITY/MAIMANA (Pajhwok):  Five people, including a young girl, have died in separate incidents in Bamyan and Faryab provinces.

Bamyan police spokesman Mohammad Khwani Rasa said two young boys were killed in two separate incidents in Bamyan city in the last three days.

He said a 20-year-old boy named Sardar, a resident of Haidarabad village near Bamyan city, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself two nights ago for unknown reasons.

He said the deceased was a driver and suffered from mental problems and family violence.

Separately, one person identified as Mahdi was killed after two families clashed in Bamyan city yesterday.

Two young men entered a verbal argument over hunting birds and the matter turned into a battle between two families. As a result of the clash, Mahdi was killed by hitting his head with sticks and stones.

Rasa said three people had been arrested in connection with the case and they were currently being held at the Bamyan police headquarters.

In Faryab province, two men were killed in Maimana, the provincial capital, near the border with Turkmenistan, and a young girl hanged herself in Almar district.

Mufti Esmatullah Muradi, the spokesman for the provincial administration, said that a 35-year-old man named Khas was killed two days ago by two people with a Kalashnikov rifle.

Muradi said the man had a dispute over a pastor in the territory of Turkmenistan and his killers had fled, but they were being searched by security and border forces.

Also, a 24-year-old Qudratullah was killed last night in Ghand area of Maimana city by unknown gunmen.

An 18-year-old girl named Atifa hanged herself in Almar district apparently due to family problems.

Noor Mohammad, a resident of the area, said Atifa claimed her life two months after her 13-year-old brother also hanged himself and ended his life.
