Doha meeting urged to prioritise concerns of Afghan journalists

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Journalists Centre (AJC) has asked participants of Doha meeting to give priority to the concerns of Afghan journalists and Afghan media outlets while the Afghanistan Independent Journalists Union (AIJU) criticized Doha meeting for ignoring Afghan journalists.

The two days Doha meeting kicked off on Sunday without the participation of the acting Afghan government.

In a statement the AIJU welcomed every move the purpose of which is durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

It said: “Some members of civil societies outside Afghanistan were invited to this meeting, AIJU thanked them for their presence in this meeting, but media outlets inside Afghanistan is not paid attention in this meetings – although during meetings with UNAMA office in Kabul the participation of local media was stressed.”

The AIJU asked UN and other organisations to invite media community and journalists within Afghanistan to such meetings related to Afghanistan, so that the media and journalists of Afghanistan present the actual facts and the current situation.

The AJC in a statement also asked participants of Doha meeting to pay attention to the concerns of Afghan media outlets and journalist.

During Doha meeting Lutfullah Najafizada represented Afghan media, Shah Gul Rezae, Mahboba Seraj and Mitera Mehran represented Afghan women.

The AJU shared the concerns of Afghan journalists and media outlets with Najafizada who will share them with others in this meeting.
