Nearly 3,000 families in Uruzgan, Badghis get assistance

KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 2,000 vulnerable people in central Uruzgan and 866 people in northwestern Badghis province have received assistance, officials said on Sunday.

Nangyalai Habibi, head of the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 2,059 families received food assistance in the province.

He said the aid was provided by the World Food Programm in which each family was distributed 50 kilograms of flour, five litres of cooking oil, six kilograms dal and three kilograms of children’s nutrition food.

Separately, 866 families in Badghis province received cash assistance, Governor Ahmad Jan Hanzala said.

The cash assistance was provided by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in two categories. In one category each family got 13,700 afs and in another category, each family provided 18,700 af, he added.
