KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) says it seized more than 178,000 tons of inferior quality and prohibited goods after from being smuggled into the country from abroad, especially from Pakistan, last year.
In a statement, the MoF said the goods, which included agricultural products, herbals, drugs and food items, had been brought to Afghanistan illegally from neighboring countries, especially from Pakistan.
The ministry said these 178,194 tons of goods had been seized by customs officials in several areas of Kandahar, Nimroz, Farah, Khost, Paktia, Herat, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces.
Without giving details, it said the smugglers of these goods had been introduced to relevant organs.
