KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) is monitoring, with concern and hope the fate of the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The helicopter carrying Raisi and some top government officials crashed in the country’s northwestern mountainous region on Sunday, IRNA reported.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said: “Hope the rescue teams would succeed in locating the president, the minister of foreign affairs and their companions.”

The IEA stood by the government and people of the brotherly and neighboring country in these hard times and hoped that no untoward incident would happen.
