KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has approved a draft law on measurements and verges of roads.
The interim cabinet also instructed the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), which prepared the draft law, to promote awareness among the people about the proposed legislative measure.
The Administrative Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement on X the 22nd meeting of the cabinet was chaired by Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund on Monday.
According to the statement, the cabinet discussed a number of issues and took necessary decisions.
Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar briefed the cabinet on casualties and financial losses caused by recent floods.
Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund instructed relevant government institutions to reach the affected people and provide them all possible assistance.
The cabinet approved the draft law on road measurements and verges and asked MoPW to sensitise the public on the new regulation and install boards on highways and roads with information about the draft law.
The cabinet directed the General Directorate of Traffic to share the regulation with relevant government entities and refer it to the High Commission of Transport for a review and report back to the council of ministers.
