PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Fourteen tonnes of expired medicines and food items have been set alight in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.
Maulvi Shabir Ahmad Sediqi, Logar commerce and industry director, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had collected 14 tonnes of expired medicines and food istuff from different parts of the province in coordination with the Afghanistan Food and Drugs Authority (AFDA).
He warned pharmacists and shopkeepers of legal action if they sold expired medicines and food items.
On the other hand, Dr. Sher Jan Haqmal, a representative of AFDA, told Pajhwok they torched nine tonnes of expired medicines and food items in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and five tonnes in Kharwar district.
