FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Forty different historic monuments obtained from the surrounding Jam Minaret area due to flash floods recently have been handed over to the provincial museum, an official said on Saturday.
Mawlavi Abdul Hai Zaeem, head of the provincial Information and Cultural Affairs, said: “Due to recent floods in Ghor province, especially around the Jam minaret, tens of works of art were found, most of them related to the Ghorian period.”
He said that the artifacts found include iron vessels, pottery, bird figurines and other similar items which would soon be investigated by archaeologists.
He said the historic items after discovery were taken to the Jam Minaret’s security check post under the leadership of provincial intelligence Chief Hafiz Mawlavi Rahmatullah Hijrat and later these items were transferred to Ferozkoh.
