KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of gold has jumped while that of other essential items remains steady during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, the market source said Saturday.
Gold prices
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold surged from 4,350 to 4,400afs and the same amount of the Russian variety from 3,450afs to 3,500afs.
Food items
Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Association, said the rate of 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar remained unchanged at 3,000afs.
And the price of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakhstani flour stayed stable at 1,550afs, 24-kilogarm of Pakistani rice 2,600afs, 16 liters tin of Malaysian cooking oil 1,420afs, a kilogram of African black tea was sold for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea for 350afs, the same rates as last week’s.
Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 1,600afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 3,050afs.
A 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,470afs, one kilogram of black tea for 400afs and the same quantity of green tea for 450afs, he added.
Fuel prices
A worker at the Ahmadyar pump station told Pajhwok Afghan News one litre of petrol cost 62afs and the price of diesel 58afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, said the price of a kilogram of the commodity 48afs.
Afghani vs dollar
Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 71.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees consumed 250afs.
Last week, one US dollar was accounted for 71.70afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 255afs.
