HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a mosque has been completed at a cost of 200, 000 US dollars in western Herat province while construction work on a dam has been launched in central Maidan Wardak province.
In Herat, the Awais Qurani mosque was constructed in 7th police district of Herat city, the provincial capital, by a trader.
Ghulam Rabani Khoshbat, the trade, said the mosque’s construction consumed more than 200,000 US dollars.
He said the mosque had the capacity to house 1,000 worshipers at a time.
Meanwhile, residents of the area were also happy over the completion of the mosque.
Haji Ghulam, an inhabitant of the area, appreciated the trader.
Separately, the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) said construction work on a dam has been kicked off at a cost of 7.3 million afghanis in Behsud district of Maidan Wardak province.
It said the dam was being constructed with financial support of the ministry.
The dam would have the capacity to store 70,000 cubic metres of water.
According to the ministry, five check dams were buikt in the province last year.
