KABUL, were injured in an accident in the Deh Mazang area of Kabul on Tuesday, officials said.
The accident took place at 8:20am when a passenger bus flipped over while trying to overtake a car. Six of the injured with cracked bones were taken to the Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital.
The remaining seven were under treatment at the Ibn-i-Sina Emergency Hospital, a trainer at the hospital, Dr. Asadullah Safi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Five of the wounded people are in critical condition.
“A new car, in a race with the passenger bus, blocked its way. As a result, the speeding bus veered off the road and flipped over,” witness Hafizullah said. One passenger was killed and 15 others were injured, he added.
But Safi said 13 wounded people were brought to the Ibn-i-Sina Hospital, and that he had no information regarding the death of any passenger.
The incident took place due to traffic rule violations by drivers, a traffic officer said on condition of anonymity. They were trying to arrest the car driver, he added.
“The traffic department is hardly 100 metres away from the area, the traffic officials took 20 minutes reaching the scene,” said another witness, Amanullah.
