TALOQAN (PAN commanders in northern Takhar province, officials said on Thursday.

The clash between Abdul Qahar and Abdul Awal occurred late on Wednesday night in the Kham Aab area of Farkhar district, police officer Attiqullah Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News.

One of Abdul Qahar’s supporters was killed and two others were wounded in the firefight, said Mohammad Waheed Tawhidi, the governor’s spokesman. Five men of the Abdul Awal were also injured.

“When I came out of the mosque in the morning, my house came under rocket attack,” said Abdul Qahar, who recalled that his parents had also been killed by Awal. However, they later reconciled as a result of mediation by elders.

Meanwhile, resident Mohammad Essa accused the 303rd Pamir Zone Police of aiding Awal’s supporters. “Police vehicles came to the area in support of Awal’s fighters.”

Another resident, Tamim, 32, said: “In the clash a police vehicle was also destroyed”.

But Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, a police spokesman, rejected the allegation and said security forces were deployed to the area to arrest the fighters.
