GHAZNI CITY (PAN fighters were killed and eight others wounded during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign troops in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.
Involving Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops, the operation was carried out in Maqur district late on Saturday, the district police chief, Col. Barakatullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The offensive resulted in the death of two fighters, he said, adding another eight rebels were injured.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters attacked a convoy of trucks shipping logistic supplies for NATO-led troops in the Jamjama area. Ten vehicles were torched and six guards escorting the convoy killed, Mujahid said.
