PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Three Pakistani labourers were killed and two Afghans were injured in a militant attack in central Logar province, officials said Saturday.
The Taliban-Gardeez highway, district chief Besmillah Khoshiwal, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Khoshiwal added that the area is always under the control of security forces, but that fewer police were present on the Friday holiday and so the Taliban seized the opportunity to attack the labourers.
Co. Ghulam Sakhi Roghlewanai, the Logar police chief, confirmed the attack, saying the bodies of the three Pakistanis had been transported to Kabul. He said the injured Afghans were in a stable condition. He added that police were investigating the incident.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, with their spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, saying two SUVs belonging to police were destroyed in the attack.
Khoshi district is a relatively well-secured area in Logar.
