6-day Quran learning programme ends

JALALABAD (PAN learning programme in the eastern province of Nangarhar that ended on Friday, organisers said.

The programme was aimed to spread Quranic guidance and let the people understand the real spirit of Islam, said officials of the Jamiat-i-Islah, a social reform body.

The programme was launched last Sunday, a statement issued from the organisation said, adding the Afghan society wanted to guide the new generation in the right direction.

Women’s participation in such programmes would help them enhance their Islamic knowledge and have a positive impact on society, according to the statement.

“I am very happy and I feel like coming to Makkah,” said one of the female participants, who did not want to be named. “I thank the organisers and expect more programmes like this in the future.”

Jamiat-i-Islah, operating in different parts of the country for the past few years, has offices in several provinces. The group seeks to bring about social reforms in line with the teachings of Islam.
