LASHKARGAH (PAN): Six people were killed and 27 others sustained injuries when the bus they rode on overturned along a highway in southern Helmand province on Friday, officials said.
The 303 bus taking passengers from western Herat province to the central capital Kabul overturned after its driver lost control due to high speed, Helmand governor’s spokesman Daud Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The incident occurred in the Do-rahi area of Greshk district. The dead and wounded were evacuated to the Emergency Hospital’s branch in the district. Among the injured, two are said to be in a critical condition.
Women and children were among those killed and wounded in the mishap, according to Ahmadi, who had no exact figures.
A doctor at the main Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that six dead and 27 injured people from the accident site had been brought to the Greshk Emergency Hospital’s branch. She had no information about the condition of the injured.
Helmand traffic police deputy chief Daud Noori said the incident is being investigated.
