KABUL): The Ministry of Interior on Monday warned security forces against the use of official vehicles and weapons for personal purposes after duty timings.
Some security officials were illegally using government vehicles for personal activities, especially wedding ceremonies, damaging the resources, it alleged.
A statement from the ministry said no police vehicle would be allowed to commute in cities in the absence of its driver. The authorities were directed to ensure the vehicles were parked in the police headquarters after duty timings.
Explanations would be sought from the officials who use weapons and vehicles after duty, said the ministry, saying traffic police were also duty-bound to honour traffic rules.
It went on to order the removal of security barriers around al government and non-government departments in the capital and provinces.
Municipalities were directed to prevent the movement of handcarts in cities and help police in resolving traffic jams.
