LASHKARGAH (PAN): A woman was killed along with a daughter in an insurgent attack in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province on Saturday morning, officials and residents said.
Bound for the provincial capital Lashkargah, the vehicle carrying them came under attack in Kumprak Manda area, local police officer Niamatullah told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The three gunmen opened fire on the car after the driver ignored their signal to stop. As a mark of protest, angry residents brought the victims’ bodies to Lashkargah and demanded the immediate arrest of the killers.
District council member, Alishan Khan, alleged: “Police only protect themselves, not roads and people.” The incident took place a few metres from a police checkpoint, he added.
