Khost schools get new buildings

KHOST CITY (PAN): Two newly-constructed schools, benefitting 1,500 boys and girls, were on Thursday inaugurated in southeastern Khost province.

Government officials, tribal elders, teachers and students attended the inauguration ceremony held in the Azad-i-Mena area on the outskirts of Khost City, the provincial capital.

Governor Abdul Jabar Naeemi told the ceremony the two-storey buildings constructed on 15 acres of land each had 30 classrooms and other allied facilities. Funded by the Ministry of Counternarcotics, the structures cost 35 million afghanis, he said.

A Azad-i-Mena High School student said previously their school had no building of its own and they had to study under open sky and in tents. He said the new building for their school would resolve problems they faced earlier.
