KABUL would not yield any results.
The Taliban on Saturday announced they were suspending negotiations with US representatives in Doha.
The US has suggested the opening of a Taliban office in Qatar some two years ago, with the Afghan government initially disagreeing to the idea.
HPC chief Salahuddin Rabbani said peace talks should be moved to Afghanistan because past experience showed decisions made outside the country failed to deliver desired results.
He said the High Peace Council had always opposed foreign meddling and decisions made with regard to the Afghan conflict outside the country.
“The Taliban political office was opened in a way which contradicted agreements made with the HPC. The move indicated that the office has not been opened to open peace talks,” he said.
He said instead of announcing peace talks with the Afghan government, the Taliban renewed their war with the Afghan people at the office opening ceremony.
He said the Taliban office should be aimed only at giving an address for the insurgents and starting negotiations with them.
Rabbani said the Afghan government would not compromise on the gains made over the past decade.
