PUL-I-KHUMRI/CHAGHCHARAN (PAN province, officials said on Monday.
The aid would be spent on the reconstruction and desilting of Baladawri, Gawhargan and Akhtcha canals in the province, a canalisation official in the northeastern zone told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Rahmatullah Saifi said survey would be conducted over the next two months ahead of the of reconstruction and desilting process.
He added 60-kilometre canals would irrigate12,000 hectares of land and the project would provide work opportunities for thousands of people.
Also on Monday, a 34-metre bridge over Murghab River was inaugurated in the Kamarak village of Charsadda district, acting Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Eng. Mohammad Shafeeq said.
Linking the district with Faryab province, the bridge was constructed at a cost of more than $349,000 provided by the ministry concerned and would resolve the transportation problem, he concluded.
