KABUL): Gunmen attacked and killed a policewoman in eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, when 492 kilograms of opium were seized in western Herat, officials said.
The policewoman, Farmina, on her way with her family to the house of her father-in-law when she was attacked in the Basawal area of the Momandara district, the governor’s spokesman said.
The district chief Esa Khan Zhwak said only Farmina was killed in the attack and her other family members stayed unhurt.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for murdering Farmina who worked in the 4th police district of Jalalabad.
Separately, police recovered 492 kilograms of opium from a van in the Shindand district of Herat province and detained two people in connection with the drugs, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Safi, said.
