KABUL): Five Afghan National Army (ANA) troops and eight insurgents have been killed in separate incidents of violence across the country, the Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.
Six armed rebels were killed during an operation in the Zankhan district of southern Ghazni province, the ministry said in a statement.
A seventh insurgent was killed during a separate operation in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province.
The statement said one militant was killed and five others were detained during joint operation by police and army in the Deh Rawud district of central Uruzgan province.
The ministry said five troops were lost to roadside bomb attacks that left 13 others injured. Three soldiers were killed in Deh Rawud, one in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar and a fifth in the Marja district of Helmand.
