HERAT CITY (PAN): Residents of this western city of Herat on Sunday complained they have been without clean drinking water due to reduced supply by the department concerned.

Farid Ahmad, who lives in 11th police district, said a majority of residents have been without potable water.

“We have not been supplied drinking water by the municipality for an entire week and that supplied is too little to meet our needs,” he said.

A resident of the 7th police district, Ahmad Shekib, they used well water, which he said was unhealthy.

Water supply department chief Habibullah Eilani confirmed the problem, saying water supply depended on electricity, which declines in winter due to heavy consumption. He said the issue had been shared with the power utility.
