KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Three militants, including a notorious commander have been killed and a huge explosive cache recovered from their possession elsewhere in southern Kandahar province, officials said Wednesday.
Javed Faisal, the governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a leading militant’s commander— Mullah Bakht Mohammad— killed in exchange of gun battle with security forces in Argistan district.
Mohammad was wanted to the local government in various cases of grievous nature, he added.
Zia Durrani, provincial police spokesman, while confirming Mohammad killing said that the slain commander was involved in serious crimes, including high profile attacks on security forces.
Separately, officials of 205 Afghan National Army (ANA) corps in Kandahar claimed killing of two militants in Maiwand and Panjwai districts.
An ANA official of the 205th corps said different brands of weapons and ammunitions had been recovered from the possession of militants.
