KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Fourteen insurgents were killed when NATO aircrafts pounded their positions during an ongoing ground and air offensive in southern Zabul province, the Afghan military said on Saturday.
A statement from the Afghan National Army’s 205th Atal Military Corps said a clean-up operation was launched on Friday in Kamal Khan village of Dai Chopan district.
Fourteen militants were killed by a NATO airstrike, the statement said, adding most of the village had been cleared of insurgents during the operation codenamed “Chamto-2”.
Security officials said a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized from militants as a result of the operation.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the casualties.
