MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Governor Abdul Majid Khogyani has said 338 development projects would be initiated and completed by this year’s end in central Maidan Wardak province.
Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects would cost 6 million afghanis and work on some other projects would be complete next year.
The projects to be completed this year concerned agriculture and security sectors, he said.
He recalled a number of schemes had been executed last year to fulfill his promise with the masses.
The governor accused the central government of not extending the assistance it had promised, forcing them to leave several key projects unfinished.
Tribal elder Dr. Alam told Pajhwok Afghan News the government should work out a comprehensive plan to bolster security in the province before launching work on development projects.
He informed the Taliban had a strong presence in their area and ruled out the possibility of launching development schemes until insurgents were vanquished.
