QALAT (Pajhwok): Five people, including three suspected militants, have been killed in separate security incident in southern Zabul province, a police officer said on Friday.
Three insurgents were killed during an overnight operation in Seori district, Zabul’s deputy police chief Col. Ghulam Jilani Farahi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But a Taliban spokesman rejected the claim as baseless. He said no fighter had been killed in the Seori operation, alleging the victims were ordinary civilians.
A police patrol vehicle came under bomb attack in the Kharwar area on the outskirts of Qalat, the provincial capital, last night. Police suffered no casualties, but a child was killed in the explosion, Farahi said.
Elsewhere in the province, unidentified gunmen shot dead schoolteacher Aminullah in the Baran Qala area of Shah Joi district. The district chief, Malik Ali Mohammad, said the teacher was killed after being kidnapped.
